01-26-2018 SAM Senior Advisory Board Minutes January 28, 2019 Present: Don Schroeder, Curt Dahl, Kay Yoch, Mike Becker, Al Barkeim City Staff. September Jacobsen, John McRaith Absent: Jeannette Meyer, Judy Simons, Julie Jensen, Darlene Kenning L The meeting was called to order at 10:07a.m. by Vice-Chairman Curt Dahl. IL Secretary's Report: The November minutes were reviewed and approved on a motion made by Kay and seconded by Mike. III. Treasurer's Report: Mike and September presented the fundraising results for 2018. Between funds raised that went to the City and to the Advisiory Board over $8300 was collected in 2018. Fundraisers included chair cover rental, china flatware rental, concerts, tours, card and craft sales, and the Murder For Fun mystery dinner. Kay made a motion to accept the treasury report with a second from Al. The motion was approved. IV. Old Business A. Tours- September reported that the trip to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud to see a tribute entitled "Remembering Bobby Vee"went fine even though the weather was not very cooperative. On the 5th of February a tour is scheduled to the Ames Center in Burnsville for another rendition of"Church Basement Ladies." Upcoming events include "Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical" at the Old Log Theater, and "Mama Mia" at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. B. Update on Programs- September reported that the monthly Fellowship Dinner will be cancelled for tomorrow evening due to the extremely cold weather. The January movie was "Mama Mia! Here We Go Again". The February movie hasn't been chosen yet but a DVD of"Murder on the Crow"will be the bonus movie. The book clubs do a nice job of running independently. There was some discussion about people requesting to be informed about certain activities without purchasing the newsletter. The board was in agreement that the newsletter is our communication tool and people should subscribe to it if they want to be informed about programs they are interested in. Outings for cross country skiing and snowshoeing have been set for February 13th and March 18th. V. Business A. New Board Member/Departing Member- The board welcomed new member Al Barkeim who is replacing Don Schroeder. Don completed his second term in December. It was also announced that Judy Simons will be leaving the board due to the relocation of her family to another community. B. Concert- We are still looking for a spring concert possibility. Molly B is at the top of the list along with The Shadows who performed last spring. September will follow up and see about date availability and cost. C. Volunteer Brunch- After some discussion it was determined that the volunteer brunch will be held on Monday, April 29th at the Event Center. This annual gathering is intended as a thank you to all the volunteers who help out throughout the year. D. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Marge Block. VI. Adjournment: Mike made a motion to adjourn at 11:15 am with a second from Kay. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on Monday, February 25, at 10:00am. John McRaith, Secretary
