10-22-2018 SAM Senior Advisory Board Minutes October 22, 2018 Present: Don Schroeder, Judy Simons, Julie Jensen, Jeannette Meyer, Curt Dahl, Kay Yoch, Darlene Kenning, Mike Becker City Staff. September Jacobsen, John McRaith Absent: None L The meeting was called to order at 10:02a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder. IL Secretary's Report: The September minutes were reviewed and approved on a motion made by Jeannette and seconded by Curt. III. Treasurer's Report: Card sales totaled $101 for September while the button projects brought in $28. Various other items including dish cloths, potholders, scrubbers and a mug rug chipped in another $88. Shotgun shell flags added $75 to the total. Kay made a motion to approve the treasurer's report with a second from Curt. The motion was approved. IV. Old Business A. Tours- Julie reported that a group went to see "Bee Hive" at the Old Log Theater on October 10th and they were two seats short of a sellout. The November excursion will be to the Bell Museum in St. Paul with lunch at Christo's on the 13th. This trip is sold out. The Chanhassen Dinner Theater is on tap for a December 5th matinee showing of"Holiday Inn" and that is also sold out. In January Julie has a trip planned to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud to see a tribute entitled "Remembering Bobby Vee". In February another rendition of "Church Basement Ladies" is on the itinerary. Upcoming events include "Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical" at the Old Log Theater, "Evita" at the Lyric Arts Theater, and "Mama Mia" at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. B. Update on Programs- September reported that the monthly Fellowship Dinner will be held next Tuesday. The October movie was "American Made". November's movie will be "Tag". This movie will be showing on November 21st and 22nd. Kayaking is done for the season. The book clubs continue to run smoothly. Ping pong is now on Wednesday evenings which is also the night for another scheduled activity. This allows the groups to share a building attendant each week. West Elementary is currently looking for volunteers to work with their students. Free mini golf at the Event Center tomorrow. V. Business A. New Year's Party- The New Year's Eve party will be celebrated on December 31st at 11:00a. September has a volunteer playing piano for the event. B. December Board Meeting- Traditionally, the Senior Advisory Board holds a social gathering at the Event Center in lieu of a December meeting. The group agreed to continue this custom with a December 17th gathering at 5p. C. T-Shirt Idea- September reported that they are still working on a design for the Senior Center t-shirts. They are looking for ideas if anyone has one. D. Board Member Update- Don Schroeder is completing his second full term and will be leaving the board in December. Kay Yoch is completing her first term and has decided to stay with the board for another three-year term. E. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Sandra Kenna. The board decided not to participate in the sale of craft items at Harmony River this year. VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 10:56 am with a second from Kay. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on Monday, November 26, at 10:OOam. John McRaith, Secretary
