12-19-2017 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Commissioner Jo Piehl, Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Chief Daniel T. Hatten Call the Meeting to Order: Commissioner Hughes called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Hughes asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Commissioner Piehl made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Hughes asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the November meeting. Commissioner Piehl made a motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission PT Communication Specialist Breanne Tasche was hired and began her training on Thursday December 7tH Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission PT Communication Specialist Candidate Charles Maricle's conditional offer was rescinded based on information collected during the background investigation. Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission PT Hospital Security Officer Jose Villarreal would be hired and begin his training on Wednesday December 20tH Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission PT Hospital Security Officer background investigations were processing without issue on candidates James Marvin, and Ben Hueber. Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission the hiring process for Full-time Police Officer was proceeding without issue. Chief Hatten requested the FT Police Officer candidate roster be certified by the Commission. The certified roster would be active for one year. Commissioner Hughes made a motion to certify the candidate roster for FT Police Officer, seconded by Commissioner Piehl. The motion carried unanimously. Union Update: There were no additional updates at this time. Items from the Floor: Chief Hatten informed the Commission 6 officers had received their orders from the Minneapolis Police for their service at the 2018 Super Bowl. Chief Hatten informed the Commission the Axon vehicle camera system had been installed and would be operational by the end of the week. Adjourn: Commissioner Piehl made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hughes to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:25 pm.
