The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday June 21, 2017 at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Lt. Tom Gifferson
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Todd Brandel at 5:04 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Hughes
to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the May meeting. Motion was made by
Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Lt. Gifferson informed the Commission that Police Officer Chris Mann submitted his resignation effective June 16,
2017.
Lt. Gifferson requested authorization from the Commission to transfer Security Officer Mikayala Mcllrath from Part-
time Security Officer to full-time Police Officer upon her becoming POST license eligible. Motion was made by
Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to allow Officer Mcllrath to be transferred after becoming
POST license eligible. Motion carried unanimously.
Lt. Gifferson requested authorization from the Commission to hire Officer Mark Hannemann as a Part-time Police
Officer. Motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to hire Officer Hannemann
as a Part-time Police Officer. Motion carried unanimously.
Lt. Gifferson informed the Police Commission the hiring process for Part-time Hospital Security candidate Blaise
Stanley is proceeding without issue at this time.
Lt. Gifferson informed the Police Commission the hiring process for Part-time Communication Specialist candidates is
proceeding without issue at this time.
Lt. Gifferson requested authorization to start a hiring process for Part-time Hospital Security Officer position. Motion
was made by Chairperson Brandel, seconded by Commissioner Hughes to begin the hiring process. Motion carried
unanimously.
Union Update:
There were no additional updates at this time.

Adjourn: Motion was made by Chairperson Brandel, seconded by Commissioner Hughes to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:25 pm.
