05-16-2017 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Jo Piehl, and Chief Daniel Hatten.
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Todd Brandel at 5:00 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Piehl to
accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the March meeting. Motion was made by
Commissioner Piehl, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Police Officer Matt Bergmann is proceeding without issue at this time.
Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Hospital Security Officer Madisen Douvier is proceeding without issue at
this time.
Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission the backgrounds for Part-time Hospital Security candidates is
proceeding without issue at this time.
Chief Hatten requested authorization to offer a Part-time Hospital Security Officer position to Blaise Stanley.
Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to authorize Chief Hatten to extend a conditional offer of Part-time
Hospital Security Officer position to Blaise Stanley. Motion was made by Chairperson Brandel, seconded by
Commissioner Piehl to extend the offer. Motion carried unanimously.
Union Update:
There were no additional updates at this time.
Items from the Floor:
Chief Hatten invited the Police Commission Members to ride with the officers for an opportunity to experience patrol
work.
Chief Hatten advised the Police Commission that he had conversations with an individual about becoming the
Department's Chaplain.
Adjourn: Motion was made by Commissioner Piehl, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:25 pm.
