12-05-2016 PRCEMMINUTES Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board December 5, 2016 Members present were Don DeMeyer, Marsha Anderson, Marlys Hoeft, Chad Czmowski, Craig Juhnke, Liz Marcus and Eric Westlund. Also present were Dolf Moon, and Leslie Alberts. The meeting was called to order at 5:20pm by Don DeMeyer. A motion was made by Chad Czmowski to approve minutes from October 3 meeting and was seconded by Marlys Hoeft. The board unanimously agreed. OLD BUSINESS Aquatic Center Update: • Project is close to being back on schedule. There have been change orders adding to the extension of the completion date. • Interior work should be complete by the end of December or close to New Years. • Construction will continue through the winter months costing $25,000 for tent/heat and $25,000 for snow removal. • Estimating 75 various job positions with the opening of the pool/ 15 individuals on staff at one time. • Approved to hire another maintenance worker: pool duties in the summer/ice arena duties in the winter. Program Numbers Update: • HYBA took over Gr. 4-8 basketball program leading to lower numbers for PRCE program. • Various Adult Enrichment classes moved to winter to attempt to improve numbers/availability. NEW BUSINESS New/Expiring Board Members: • Thank you to Jim Waldron, John Rodeberg and Elizabeth Hanninen-Scharn for their time. • Welcome to Don DeMeyer in the new Chair position, Liz Marcus, Craig Juhnke and Eric Westlund. SWIF Grant: • Received grant from SouthWest Initiative Foundation for $4000. Able to get new program, Power of Produce, available to families and kids at the Farmers Market. Community Education. is the fiscal host for the program. • Jeff Page EDA manages the committee. • Roughly 450 children have signed up to use the tokens to purchase fresh produce. Software Conversion: Conversion going live on December 19, 2016 with Campground/Shelter module going live January 3, 2017. Have had 1 on-site meeting and 4 phone meetings with MaxGalaxy.
