November 27, 2017
Present: Don Schroeder, Kay Yoch, Judy Klawitter, Julie Jensen, Darlene Kenning,

L The meeting was called to order at 10:05a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder.
IL Secretary's Report: The October minutes were examined. Warren made a
motion to approve the minutes and Judy seconded the motion. The motion was
approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that card sales for October amounted to $146.
Dish cloths added another $12 while button sales brought in an additional $40.
Miscellaneous donations totaled $58. The board discussed the Giving Program and
asked that September create a spreadsheet showing individual donations and also a
list of the items that the donations were spent on for the Center. Kay made a motion
to accept the report with a second from Jeannette. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie reported that a Christmas house tour will be heading out on
November 29th to visit the Alexander Ramsey house and the Bachman Idea house.
December 1 lth is the day a group will head to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud
to watch a performance of the Texas Tenors . In January Julie is planning a tour
to neighboring Glencoe to have brunch and visit McLeod County's only castle.
On Tuesday, February 20th, a group will travel to Ives Auditorium in
Bloomington to hear the Legendary Ladies of Country. March 21st will bring a
visit to the Old Log Theater for a presentation of Guys and Dolls. Upcoming
tours include the Life and Music of Frank Sinatra, the Fagan Fighters Museum in
Granite Falls, and a summer boat tour.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that the movie "The Zookeepers Wife"
was well attended. The December movie of the month will be "Everest".
Newsletter subscription renewals are going very well. The price is $15 for a hard
copy and $10 for the e-mail version. The Fellowship Dinner is tomorrow night
and will feature the customary turkey entree. The book clubs and ping pong
players are doing fine. The card game "Hand and Foot" drew some interest for
the afternoon session. September also reminded the group that the pilates and
yoga sessions do not take place if school is starting late or is cancelled due to bad
weather. On December 4th an appreciation event will be held for Bone Builders.
This event will be a chance to show appreciation for the current instructors, show
participants how to become an instructor, and provide an opportunity for the
attendees to get to know each other a little better.
V. Business
A. New Members- Mike Becker and Judy Simons have agreed to join the Senior
Advisory Board to replace our outgoing members- Warren Schuft and Judy
Klawitter. The other board members expressed their sincere appreciation for
Judy and Warren's efforts and insights over the past six years.
B. Harmony River Craft Sale- Harmony River hosted their craft sale on
November 4' and it went very well for the Senior Center. They were able to
land a great spot at the sale and ended up with $242 in sales.
C. Mini Golf Fundraiser- Progress on the mini -golf course has been great to this
point. The holes have all been designed and laid out. They are still in need of
some more putters for the course. The plan will be to have the course ready for
play sometime in February with the special golf day being held in March.
D. Murder Mystery- A contract was offered to the board to put on another murder
mystery dinner this coming April. This is the same organization that put on our
first mystery dinner last April. September was supportive of signing the
contract as she is more comfortable with process now that she has been through
it once. Curt made a motion to go ahead with the dinner with a second from
Kay. The board unanimously agreed.
E. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Beverly
Baumetz..
VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 11:25 am with a second from Warren.
The motion passed.
The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on
Monday, January 22 at 10:00am. A Christmas celebration will be held on December
18 at 4:30pm at the Senior Center.
