The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder after a
tour of Hutchinson's new water park at 9:30a.m.
IL Secretary's Report: The June minutes were examined. Kay made a
motion to approve the minutes and Jeannette seconded the motion. The motion was
approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that card sales amounted to $162 while button
sales were at $90. Dish cloths, potholders, and scrubbers totaled $34. Flag sales
brought in another $100. The Center Giving Program currently has $1906 available.
Curt made a motion to accept the report with a second from Kay. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie reported that her trip on July 12th to the Afton House Inn for lunch
and a cruise on the St. Croix river was successful but very warm. The second tour
to the capitol will be going on August 1st and that trip has sold out. The state fair
trip will be held on August 31st and currently has ten registered. On September
26th there will be a mystery tour and it is sold out. The October 18th tour to the
Plymouth Playhouse to see a "Women of Country" concert has been dropped as
the show was cancelled. This tour will be replaced with an excursion to the Way
Too Cool cooking school along with the Minnesota Arboretum and the Apple
House. Tours are in the works for November, December, and January.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that 22 people went on the Senior
Living Community Tour on July 20th. The Fellowship dinner is tomorrow night
and they are serving turkey commercials. Next month's dinner will have a picnic
theme with barbecued riblets and potato salad. "Hacksaw Ridge" was the movie
for July with "Million Dollar Arm" as the second feature. "Tommy's Honor" is
the main movie for August with "Hidden Figures" as the second movie. The
session on the benefits of a smart phone had about fifteen people in attendance.
The latest meeting of the kayak group was well attended. They will be back at it
this Wednesday at Lake Washington. In August they will hit Cedar Lake on the
16th and then back on the Crow River on the 22nd. The Center has new balls for
the bingo set. The foot clinic will now have only one person helping out with the
seniors but they will come three times a month instead of two.
V. Business
A. Mini Golf Fundraiser- The board discussed in more detail a fundraiser
involving a mini golf course inside the Event Center. There was a consensus
that this would be a great early spring activity on a Saturday when kids don't
have a lot going on. Curt and Don will take a leadership role and hope to find a
couple more people to help design the holes and create the necessary features.
B. Murder on the Crow Video- The murder mystery dinner program "Murder on
the Crow" will be available on video for those who missed the performance.
C. Crowd Control Stands- The crowd control stands have been purchased and
delivered. These will help with future large events which require directing
participants to a certain location within the Center.
D. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Jack
Miska.
VI. Adjournment: Kay made a motion to adjourn at 11:40 am with a second from Warren.
The motion passed.
The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on
August 21st at 10:00a.m. at the Event Center.
