Meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. There was a quorum of members present.

Discussion and new business
• storm call in Saturday June 18, private bur oak struck a garage and blocked alley
• Minimal storm damage with recent storms, mostly hangers in ash
• plantings up to this date (112 energy and blvd, 8 grant, 15 from 2 arbor day celebrations)
• removals up to this date (4 privately contracted, 1 boxelder, 1 green ash and 2 silver maples, 50
in house mostly declining ash and stem girdling root sugar maples.)
• Removal of a resistant elm succumbing to DED, variety was `Discovery'
• Lots of calls for trimming site lines on signs and road clearance
• Responding to questions on pruning, especially younger trees top loading their crown and
splitting out.
• New staking system seems to be working, will continue to observe.
• 7 DED notices sent out so far, 2 have been removed, 2 are past their compliance date, however
the contractor (madsen) has contacted me on both of them to let me know they are engaged to
be taken down.
• I have removed 1 DED elm so far on the boulevard, one of the new varieties planted on the
adams street project. Listed as Discovery on the inventory. Leaves are similar to triumph elm
which can get DED. There are 2 larger American elm in South park that will come down this
week.
• Currently accepting volunteers for the tree steward program on august 13t", signup is on the
parks webpage under volunteers wanted.
