Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that card sales amounted to $197 for May/June while button sales were at $25. Dish cloth sales took in another $8. The big winner was the shotgun shell flags which brought in $100. Judy made a motion to accept the report with a second from Kay. The motion passed. IV. Old Business A. Tours- Julie Jensen reported that the July 19th tour to Gull Lake for a boat trip and an arboretum visit went fine and was as popular as ever. On August 17th a tour will travel to Black Bear Lodge in Baxter for dinner and a show at the Jasper theater. That trip is now sold out. The annual state fair trip will be on September 1st and currently has 17 people registered. The October mystery tour sold out on the first day of registration. A November tour will head to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud for a performance of show tunes and lunch at a local golf course. December 9th will bring a visit to the Basilica of St. Mary to hear the National Lutheran Choir and eat at a Japanese restaurant where the food is prepared while you watch. Julie is working on a potential tour to see the Vikings stadium in January and in March she has scheduled a trip to the College of St. Benedict to see the U.S. Navy Concert Band perform. B. Update on Programs- September reported that the upcoming Fellowship Dinner will feature chow mein and currently has 28 people signed up. "The Race" was the movie for July and brought in some new participants to the Center. She is still determining the main movie for August. The secondary movie will be another travel adventure with this one covering the Caspian Sea. The kayaking group will meet at the boat landing on July 27th and then they will travel to Lake Washington on August 10th. The book clubs are humming along but a board member suggested that they not meet during the bone builders program so that people could participate in both. V. Business A. Senior Expo- The Senior Expo is coming up this fall and September wanted the board to determine whether they should have a booth at the exhibit. Some members felt that hosting the event and putting some Senior Center information and pictures on the walls at the Center would be enough. A final decision on whether to purchase a booth will be made at the August meeting. B. Exercise Space- Some seniors asked about exercise equipment at the Center. September wondered if we should consider having a treadmill or other basic items to exercise on at the Center. The board discussed the matter and came to the conclusion that there were already establishments in Hutchinson for that purpose and that they were available to seniors at a very reasonable cost. C. Other- The board talked about whether we need some new card games to play as some of the current activities are losing numbers. That led to a discussion about new games in general and not just card playing. Some currently popular games were mentioned and September is going to look for them. Members may be asked to come and explain the game they suggested to help speed up the learning process for new players. To improve card playing numbers, the activities will begin at noon and for the first hour people can come and learn how to play. Hopefully, after some playing time, the new people will feel comfortable playing with the regulars. VI. Adjournment: Kay made a motion to adjourn at 10:43 am with a second from Warren. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. John McRaith, Secretary
