02-01-2016 PRCEMMINUTES Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board February 1, 2016 Members present were John Rodeberg, Tim Peterson, Jim Waldron, Elizabeth Hanninen-Scharn, Chad Czmowski, Marsha Anderson, and Don DeMeyer. Also present were Steve Cook, Dolf Moon, Sharon Armstrong, Sara Witte, Rhiannon Kuenzel, and Jody Harms The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm by John Rodeberg. A motion was made by Chad Czmowski to approve minutes from the December 2 meeting and was seconded by Don DeMeyer. The board unanimously agreed. OLD BUSINESS Arts Place Grant: Steve Cook presented information regarding a grant he is writing to the Endowment of the Arts. The award can range from $50,000 to $500,000 and can be used towards planning and administration fees. The purpose is to incorporate art with the history of Hutchinson by: Updating downtown art/history Creating a "Heritage Walk" and establish a "Founders Park" Develop interpretive signage to document the history of Hutchinson in various downtown areas. NEW BUSINESS Presentations by Sara Witte (Parks Dept) and Sharon Armstrong (Community Education) were given for 2015 projects and programs. Board Member Items Aquatics project update. 0 100% planning document has been received o Reviewing plans to ensure all details have been addressed. o Present to the city council at the end of February o Bid process begins early March o Construction begins in April • Thank you to Marsha for her School Board presentation and her work at Equal Access. • September Jacobsen, Mary Haugen, & John McRaith will present program updates at the March 7th meeting.
