March 28, 2016
Present: Julie Jensen, Harriet Sturges, Darlene Kenning, Curt Dahl, Judy Klawitter,
Warren Schuft, Don Schroeder, Kay Yoch

Absent: Judy Klawitter
I. The meeting was called to order at 10:00a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder.
II. Secretary's Report: The February minutes were examined. Harriet made a
motion to approve the minutes and Warren seconded the motion. The motion was
approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Card sales amounted to $158 for February/March while button
sales were at $90. Magnet and dish cloth sales took in another $62. The Giving
Program now has a current balance of $1881 in the account. Curt made a motion to
accept the report with a second from Kay. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie Jensen reported that on March 9th they traveled to the Plymouth
Playhouse for a revue featuring John Denver's music. On April 9th a group will
head to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud to see "Grease". "Syttende Mai" or
"Norwegian Constitution Day" will be celebrated in Milan on May 14th with a
contingent from Hutchinson attending. An Old Log Theater production of
"Million Dollar Quartet" has 38 people registered with plenty of time to sell out.
A July 19th tour to Gull Lake for a boat trip will be advertised in the next
newsletter.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that the Fellowship Dinner currently
has 40 people signed up. "The Intern"" was the movie for March and was good.
"A Song For Ireland" was the second movie. "Revenant" is the movie for April
with showings on the 20th at 1:OOp and the 20 at 9:15a & 1:OOp. `Brooklyn" is
the second movie. Intergenerational mentoring is still taking place but the
numbers are small. April or early May would be a good time to try another bike
clinic if John Hassinger is available.
V. Business
A. April Concert- Concert is going well with 350 tickets sold so far. Kay Johnson
did a great job of promoting the event in the local paper. Mayor Forcier has
lined up several sponsors for the event so it looks like it will be a great
fundraiser. Thrivent is also helping with a grant for this event.
B. St. Croix Hospice- Laura Oldenberg spoke to the board about their organization
getting involved with the Senior Center. They would like to educate seniors on
the hospice options that are available and when the appropriate time might be
for taking advantage of these options. The board felt that any presentations
should be purely informational and educational with no selling of services
taking place.
C. Volunteer Luncheon- The board decided to hold the annual volunteer luncheon
on Friday, April 22" d at 10:30am. The group felt that it would be best to keep
the menu simple with no party favors involved. Members of the advisory board
will help serve the meal.
D. Other- Curt asked about the golf nets and was informed that they needed to be
reordered. Kay mentioned that some of her friends enjoyed playing the game
"Mahjong" and September reported that this game is available at the Center.
Kay also mentioned that an interesting tour would be to travel to see the tall
ships when they are in Duluth. Bringing a group during a large event like this
may pose problems but all agreed that it would make for an interesting tour. No
other business came before the board.
VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 11:00 am with a second from
Darlene. The motion passed.
The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday,
April 25th at 10:00 a.m.
