ADJOURNMENT 41� REGULAR COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS January 25, 1965 A Regular Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Rolfe in the Council Chambers at the hour of 7:30 P.M. The council asked him to rppert back at the next meeting with recommendations and specifications. Alderman Stearns introduced Ordinance No. 268 for its third and final reading: ORDINANCE NO. 268 AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS TO THE CITY OF HUTCHINSON, MCLEOD COUNTY, MINNESOTA {�11atar1 k (January 11, 1965 meeting) Alderman Fitzloff seconded the motion of Alderman Stearns to introduce Ordinance No. 268 for its third and final reading. Upon roll call, all members present voted in favor of Ordinance No. 268, and it was declared passed on its third and final reading. Alderman Fitzloff introduced Ordinance No. 269 for its third and final reading: ORDINANCE NO. 269 AN ORDINANCE ARMEXING CERTAIN LANDS TO THE CITY OF HUTCHINSON, MCLEOD COUNTY, MINNESOTA it I - (January 11, 1965 meeting) Alderman Hanson seconded the motion of Alderman Fitzloff to introduce Ordinance No. 269 for its third and final reading. Upon roll call, all members present voted in favor of Ordinance No. 269, and it was declared passed on its third and final reading. Discussion on setting up a petty cash fund. It was decided to consult the City'Attorney and Auditors. Engineer Wilson explained the proposed 1965 Street Program. thereupon Alderman Stearns introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2350 (attached) 4 Alderman Johhson seconded the motion to adopt said resolution and upon vote being taken, the following voted in favor of Resolution No. 2350 : Alderman Hanson "aye" Alderman Johnson "aye" Alderman Fitzloff "aye" Alderman Stearns "aye" The following voted against this resolution: none Adopted by the City Council this 25th day of January, 1965. Engineer Wilson explained the proposed Truck Route Ordinance for study for the next meeting. Engineer Wilson explained the need for an extra vehicle for the engineering department. Nip action taken, Discussion on an end loader and equipgent to be used at the city dump. Tabled for the next meeting. Alderman Hanson made a motion to advertise for bids for a vehicle for the Water Department and a vehicle for the Park Department, bids to be received on February 8, 1965 at 8:00 P.M. Alderman Stearns seconded the motion of Alderman Hanson t and upon vote being taken, carried. Alderman Hanson made a motion to write off the following check as recommended by the Auditors: Don Forsberg in the amount of $6.95 dated April 19, 1962. Alderman Johnson seconded the motion of Alderman Hanson, and upon vote being taken, carried. Alderman Stearns introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2350 RESOLUTION ORDERING PREPARATION OF REPORT ON IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS, it is proposed to improve the following streets by subbase, base, curb and gutter, and bituminous surfacing: STREET FROM TO Bluff Street Highway 7 Crow River Franklin Street First Avenue So. Third Avenue So. Franklin Street Washington Avenue First Avenue So. Third Avenue So. Franklin Street Hassan Street Jorgenson Street Selchow Avenue Century Avenue Selchow Avenue Jorgenson Street Hassan Street Tenth Avenue N.E. Elm Street Eleventh Avenue AND WHEREAS, it is proposed to improve the alley in Block 49, N 1/2 of Hutchinson by subbase, base, and bituminous surfacing, AND WHEREAS, it is proposed to improve Bluff Street from Highway 7 to the Crow Rioter by the installation of sidewalk, and to assess the benefited property for all or a portion of the cost of the improvement, pursuant to Minn. Stats., Sec. 429.011 to 429.111 (Laws 1953, Ch. 398, as amended)., NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF HUTCHINSON, MINNESOTA: That the proposed improvement be referred to the City Engineer for study and that he is instructed to report to the Council with all convenient speed advising the Council in a preliminary way, as to whether the proposed improve- ment is feasible and as to whether it should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other improvement, and the estimated cost of the improve- ment as recommended. Alderman Johnson seconded the motion to adopt said Resolution. Adopted by the Council this 25th day of January,,1965. The Hutchinson Utilities Commission transferred a check in the amount of $25,000.00to the City of Hutchinson on December 31, 1965. Discussion on the appointment of a City Assessor. The clerk`' was asked to $Nx contact Wesley Abrams, County Assessor to be present at the February 8�h meeting. Mayor Rolfe read a letter from the Hutchinson Utilities Commission requesting approval of the Mayor and City Council to lower the electric rates by about $20,000.00 annually. Tabled for further study. Motion was made, seconded and carried that the following special permit, as recommended by the Planning Commission, for a Sign be granted: Mrs Jack Beckwith - 209 Main Street S Erect a sign electrically illuminated 311x5' Motion was made, seconded and carried that the variance be granted, and a permit be gxa granted as recommended by the Planning Commission: Smith Douglass Co. Inc. Box 850 - Albert Lea, Minnesota (Farmers Elevator) Erect a steel vertical tank ll'x30'. This tank to be added to the two tanks already erected on this site.
