07-21-2014 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Monday July 21, 2014 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Curtis Hughes, Commissioner Verne Meyer, and Chief Daniel Hatten. Call the Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Hughes at 4:30 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Hughes asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Meyer to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Hughes. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Hughes asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the June meeting. Motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Chairperson Hughes, to approve the meeting minutes with the one correction. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Commission that the background investigation on the Communication Specialist position is currently on hold due to medical issues with the candidate. Chief Hatten presented the Commission with the Police Officer Candidate Roster, requesting it be certified. Motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Chairperson Hughes, to certify the Police Officer roster for a period of one year. Motion carried unanimously. The final Chief's interview of the top three candidates will occur on Monday July 28, 2014. Union Update: Chief Hatten informed the Commission there was nothing to report at this time. Items from the Floor: There were no items from the floor. With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Chairperson Hughes, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
