06-16-2014 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Monday June 16, 2014 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Curtis Hughes, Commissioner Verne Meyer, and Chief Daniel Hatten. Call the Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Hughes at 4:48 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Hughes asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Meyer to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Hughes. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Hughes asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the April /May meeting. Motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Chairperson Hughes, to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Commission all of the positions have been filled and the candidates are in the final stages of training. Chief Hatten informed the Commission that the background investigation is currently on hold due to medical issues with the Communication Specialist candidate. Chief Hatten informed the Commission the hiring process to fill the vacant Police Officer position has begun. There were 51 candidate who took the written portion of the test, of those 48 candidates will be asked to participate in the initial interview which is schedule for the week of June 23 rd Union Update: Chief Hatten informed the Commission the Union have selected Officer Theresa Leider and Officer Andy Erlandson as their Union Stewards for the group. Items from the Floor: Chief Hatten informed the Commission Sergeant Eric Kilian was selected as the Officer of The Year by the Minnesota Pease and Police Officers Association. With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Jensen, seconded by Commissioner Meyer, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment was 5:10 p.m. Next meeting to be held on Monday July 21, 2014 at 4:30 pm Verne Meyer, Police Commission Secretary
