12-03-2013 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were Chairperson Julie Jensen, Commissioner Verne Meyer, Commissioner Curtis Hughes,
and Chief Daniel Hatten.
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jensen at 5:00 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Jensen asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Hughes
to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Meyer. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Jensen asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the October meeting. Motion was made by
Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Hughes, to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Police Officer Phillip Mielke successfully completed the Field Training
Program.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Police Officer Jake Snyder is progressing nicely through the Field Training
Program.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission the three full -time (Joel Brinkmann, Tyler Schmeling, Travis Borstad) and one
part-time Security Officer (Wilson Maiers) have completed the Security Officers Training Program and are now
working at the hospital.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission the Communication Specialist candidates have complete the written testing.
Those candidates who have successfully completed the written test with a minimum of 70% will move on to the
interview process. The first interview process is schedule for December 11th and 12th
Union Update:
Chief Hatten informed the Commission the negotiations were continuing with the city. Chief Hatten assured the
Commissioners he would continue to keep them informed on the progress of the union issue.
Items from the Floor:
Chief Hatten advised the Commission of the progress of the legal process of the officer involved shooting incident.
With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by
Commissioner Meyer, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
