02-28-1994 HUCM/ O / `--; Regular Meeting February 28, 1994 Commissioners Ward, Carls and Gilmer were present; Commissioners Cornell and Beatty were absent; also present were Mgr. Kadrmas and Counsel Prochnow. Vice President Ward called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. Vice President Ward appointed Commissioner Carls as acting secretary. The minutes of January 31, 1994 regular meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to approve the minutes as written. Motion was unanimously carried. The January payables were discussed. A motion was made by Commissioner Carls, seconded by Commissioner Gilmer to accept the January payables in the amount of $1,773,253.68 (detailed listing in payables book). Motion was unanimously carried. The 1994 year -to -date (thru January) financial and budget reports were reviewed. A motion was made by Commissioner Carls, seconded by Commissioner Gilmer to accept the financial and budget reports. Motion was unanimously carried. Mgr. Kadrmas presented a request for bids for Power Cable for Feeder 17. After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to advertise for bids and to open the bids on March 23, 1994. Motion was unanimously carried. Mgr. Kadrmas presented a request for bids for Painting Steel Poles "PR" Line. After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Carls, seconded by Commissioner Gilmer to advertise for bids and to open the bids on March 24, 1994. Motion was unanimously carried. Manager's Report: 1. Presented recommendation on quotations for two (2) 300 KVA three phase transformers (quotation analysis attached). After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to award the quotation to Petersen - Wisdorf in the amount of $10,240. Motion was unanimously carried. 2. Presented recommendation on quotations for 12 25 KVA single phase transformers (quotation analysis attached). After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to award the quotation to Lanick & Liljegren in the amount of $10,584. Motion was unanimously carried. 3. Presented recommendation on quotations for 20,000 feet of 1/0 15 KV wire. Quotations are: Resco Minnesota Electric Petersen - Wisdorf 898.00/M $17,960 965.00/M 19,300 977.00/M 19,540 After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to award the quotation to Resco in the amount of $17,960. Motion was unanimously carried. 4. Presented recommendation on quotations for 15,000 feet of 4/0- 2/0 -4/0 wire. Quotations are: Dakota Electric 856.00/M $12,840 Border States 862.00/M 12,930 Minnesota Electric 874.00/M 13,110 After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to award the quotation to Dakota Electric in the amount of $12,840. Motion was unanimously carried. 5. Update on unit #1. Has reinstated contract with Jay Brothers. 6. No date has been set for joint City Council meeting. Old Business: In regard to service territory issue, Mgr. Kadrmas, Council Prochnow and Barry Anderson, attorney for City of Hutchinson will meet with McLeod Co -op and Co- operative Power on February 28, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Utilities. New Business: None There being no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to adjourn the meeting at 2:30 p.m. Motion was unanimously carried. Ward, Vice President ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR POWER CABLE FOR FEEDER 17 HUTCHINSON UTILITIES COMMISSION HUTCHINSON, MINNESOTA Notice is hereby given that the Hutchinson Utilities Commission of the City of Hutchinson, Minnesota, hereinafter referred to as the Owner, will receive sealed Bids at the Hutchinson Utilities office until 10:00 a.m. on the 23rd day of March, 1994, and will publicly open and read aloud such Bids on the following work and equipment: "POWER CABLE FOR FEEDER 17" Proposals shall be properly endorsed and delivered in an envelope marked, "POWER CABLE FOR FEEDER 17" and shall be addressed to: Hutchinson Utilities Commission of the City of Hutchinson, 225 Michigan Street, Hutchinson, Minnesota 55350. All proposals shall be submitted in duplicate on the Bidder's own letterhead in facsimile of the Proposal Form enclosed in the Specifications, or by utilizing the Proposal Form enclosed with the Specifications by typing the official name of the Bidder at the top of the form. Each Proposal shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond, made payable to the Hutchinson Utilities Commission of the City of Hutchinson, Minnesota, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid, as a guarantee that the Bidder will enter into the proposed Contract and provide a Performance Bond after his Bid shall have been accepted. The successful Bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100 %) of the Contract price to the Owner prior to the approval of the Contract. No Bidder may withdraw his Bid or Proposal for a period of thirty (30) days after date of opening of Bids. At the aforementioned time and place, or at such later time and place as the Owner then may fix, the Owner will act upon Proposals received and with its sole discretion may award Contract(s) for the furnishing of said equipment.
