All Commissioners were present, also present were Mgr.
Alexander and Ruth Hakel.
President Quade called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
Mgr. Alexander presented the context of a meeting that he
and Ivan Larson attended at the 3M Company in Hutchinson.
They are considering installing a 4 megawatt generator
utilizing steam that is being used in production. One of
the questions concerned the use of firm natural gas as a
standby. This plan is in its infancy and 3M is looking
for suggestions from the Utilities.
Mgr. Alexander asked the opinion of the Commission concerning
the 3M proposal. After discussion, a motion was made by
Commissioner Filk, seconded by Commissioner Tracy to direct
Mgr. Alexander and Don Swanson of Associated Consultants to
meet with and work with 3M on their proposal. The motion
carried.
The Midwest Gas Association annual meeting is to be held
August 17 thru August 19, 1980 at Mackinac Island, Michigan,
and the American Public Gas Association annual meeting is
to be held August 17 thru August 20, 1980 at Boston,
Massachusetts. On a motion by Commissioner Filk, seconded
by Commissioner Tracy the manager and Commission members
are authorized to attend either meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
10:15 a.m.
