04-28-1954 HUCM(222) 241 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE LIGHT AND POWER COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HUTCHINSON, Hutchinson, Minnesota, HELD AT ITS PRINCIPAL OFFICE IN THE, CITY OF HUTCHINSON ON WEDNESDAY, April 28,1954, at 9 A. M. The President called the special meeting to order and the Secretary announced that all members of the Commission, viz., Dr, R. I. Sheppard, President, Dr. A, J. Thompson, and R. W.Dahl, Secretary, were present in person and participated in the meeting. There were also present, Harold Popp, Mayor Af the City of Hutchinson, Ralph E. Young, Superintendent of the Light Plant, Elmer C. Jensen, City Attorney, and W. E. Reyerson, attorney for the Commission, and also Leon A. Winter, Sioux City, Iowa, engineer. The President stated that this special meeting was for the purpose of receiving and opening bids for the sale t Light and Power Commission of a dual fuel generating unit as in specifications prepared for the Commission. The President the engineer, Leon A. Winter, and the Superintendent, Ralph to open the sealed bids and tabulate them, which was done, a bids were as follows: 1. Young, nd the Following the public opening of said bids the President advised the bidders that a representative could be heard from each bidder, and the commission preceeded to hear explanations by representatives of each bidder as to the merits of his product, and how it would fit in to the local municipal electric plant. The Commission also heard from representatives of Allis - Chalmers Co. and Electric Machinery Company as to generators and exciters. The Commission discussed the merits of the various products covered by the bids, with comments from the engineer and superintendent and also from Mr. Phil Graf, plant engineer, and Mr. Ross Heilman, plant mechanic, as to the respective engines covered by the bids. After these discussions, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, 242 (222) the meeting was adjourned, subject to call' of the President, for the purpose of giving further consideration to the bids and to the merits of the respective engines covered by the bids.
