Regular Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Hutchinson Utilities Commission was
held on April 10, 1972 at 2 :00 P. M. in the Hutchinson Utilities
meeting place.
All Commissioners were present; also Steve Wacker, Manager and
Orville Kuiken, Superintendent of the Natural Gas Division.
Minutes of the last monthly meeting and special meeting were
read. Motion was made by Commissioner Filk, seconded by
Commissioner Tracy and unanimously carried that the minutes be
approved as read.
Manager Steve Wacker discussed operations of the Utilities
and outlined his general plans and programs.
Motion was made by Commissioner Filk, seconded by Commissioner
Tracy and unanimously carried to accept the resignation of
William Eslick effective April 15, 1972.
Orville Kuiken, Supertintendent of the Gas Division, presented
information to the Commission on gas consumption and stressed
the need for a peak - shaving plant in Hutchinson.
Motion was made by Commissioner Filk, seconded by Commissioner
Tracy and unanimously carried to secure information from an
engineering firm, or firms, on the costs of a peak- shaving plant.
Motion was made by Tracy, seconded by Commissioner Filk and
unanimously carried instructing management to contact an
attorney for the purpose of drawing proper papers for en option
on the Bernhagen property adjoining the Border Station. The
plot being about six acres at $1500.00 per acre.
Motion was made by Commissioner Filk, seconded by Commissioner
Tracy and unanimously carried to issue a, check in the amount
of $10,802.54 to Rural Co- Operative Power Association, Elk River,
Minnesota for the Transmission Line located within the City
Limits of Hutchinson. (East line built by Rural Co- Operative
Power Association.)
Motion was made by Co -miss inner Filk, seconded by Commissioner
Tracy and unanimously carried to employ tre following:

5- 1 -72 Mrs. Russell
