Regular Meeting
June 30, 1997
Commissioners Ward, Gilmer and Wetterling were present. Absent were
Commissioners Carls and Ackland. Also present were Manager Kadrmas and
Counsel G. Barry Anderson.
President Ward called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
The minutes of May 31, 1997, regular meeting were discussed. Commissioner
Gilmer asked about the status of the Hamilton account. Mgr. Kadrmas explained
that a $230.00 credit was applied to her account because of the delay of time in
checking her gas meter. A motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded
by Commissioner Wetterling to approve the minutes as written. Motion was
unanimously carried.
The May payables were discussed. A motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer,
seconded by Commissioner Wetterling to accept the payables in the amount of
$1,061,968.73 (detailed listing in payables book). Motion was unanimously carried.
The 1997 year -to -date (thru May) financial and budget reports were reviewed. A
motion was made by Commissioner Wetterling, seconded by Commissioner Gilmer
to accept the financial and budget reports. Motion was unanimously carried.
General Manager's Report
A. Our Boiler & Machinery insurance deductible was decreased from $600,000
to $300,000. We will be receiving approximately a $20,000 premium
reduction.
B. Mgr. Kadrmas reported on the APPA Conference which was held in Toronto,
Canada. He discussed the deregulation issues and the fact that it'll be a
10 year process.
Mgr. Kadrmas commented that we did not send anyone to the flood zones
because it would have left us short on personnel.
Mgr. Kadrmas discussed the landscaping plans on the grounds at the
location of the office. It will cost approximately $8,000 to do the work. We
will take some money from the `welding booth' project to help finance the
landscaping. Next year we'll do landscaping at plant #1 and plant 42.
Old Business:
• Council Anderson reported on the progress of the McLeod Coop Power
Association (MCPA) property issue. Because MCPA refused our offer of
$100,000 it was the consensus of the Commission to go ahead and set
hearing dates and go before the Administration Law Judge. Council
Anderson will notify Mayor Torgerson of what Hutchinson Utilities intentions
are on this issue.
The bid for power transformer for HTI will be discussed at the July meeting.
The price will be in the range of $275,000.
New Business: None
There being no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded
by Commissioner Wetterling to adjourn the meeting at 4:27 pm. Motion was unanimously
carried.
