cloths were sold. The button crafts brought in an additional $35 while a new coaster

IV. Old Business
A. Tours- The tour to Lake Minnetonka that is scheduled for next Tuesday is full.
The August 291h state fair trip has 28 signed up at this time. The September 12th
trip to the Plymouth Playhouse for another episode of the "Church Basement
Ladies" is sold out. The group that will be traveling to Warrens, Wisconsin for a
tour of the cranberry bogs on October 81h has 38 registered. The next newsletter
will advertise the November 12th tour to the American Swedish Institute in the
Twin Cities, which will be decorated for Christmas.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that the July movie "42" did not have
very good attendance but that summer is a busy time for people. She may run it
again in October. "Parental Guidance" will be shown on August 21st and 22nd as
the movie of the month. The Jim Berner event, "Christmas in July ", was
cancelled due to low numbers. Travel at a Glance showed a nature film on birds,
bugs, etc. The book clubs are still finding good books to share. The bad weather
policy was included in the last newsletter. Live dances will begin in August and
continue through October. An August 21st kayak outing is planned on Les Kouba
point. Rib sandwiches will be featured for the upcoming Fellowship dinner.
Next month Travel at a Glance will show you how to visit four countries at a cost
of only $100 per person.
V. Business
A. McLeod County Fair- The board discussed having a booth at the fair. While it
is nice to have a presence there they felt it would be too difficult to get enough
volunteers to keep the booth covered.
B. Other- September asked that the board consider cancelling the "Sirens of the
Sixties" concert planned for November and consider replacing that with a
daytime event with Jim Berner. The concern is that we don't overdo the
concerts to the point where people stop attending. September also threw out
some other ideas for future Center programming. Rick thanked Julie with a
story of his trip planning experience. After that experience he realized how
much effort Julie has to put forth to make these tours happen. Don reported that
the fundraiser at Jackpot Junction on September 9th will go ahead as planned.
VI. Adjournment: Rick made a motion to adjourn at 11:2 lam with a second from Warren.
The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, August 26th at 10:00 a.m. - John McRaith, Secretary
