04-28-1945 HUCM264 Special Meeting April 28th, 1945 1;00 P. M. The Light & Power Commission of the City of Hutchinson, met on the above date and at said hour, at the Municipal Light & Power Plant, in the City of Hutchinson, McLeod County, Minnesota. All members of the Commission were present. The Meeting was called to order by President, Dr.R• I. Sheppard, and thereupon the Commissioner's Engineer, Mr. Winter, of the firm of Buell & Winter, Engineers, opened and read the various bids and the bids so received, are as follows; Bids were on file from the Nordberg Mfg. Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for engines of 3200 and 3600 horse Power respectively and the Busch- Sulzer Bros. Diesel Engine Co. of Saint Louis, Mo. for engines of 3060 HP and 3400 HP respectively. The bids of the Nordberg Mfg. Co. for engines as designated above were in the amounts of $220,721.00 for engine of 3200 HP size and $245,287.00 for engine of 3600 HP size. The bids submitted by the Busch- Sulzer Bros. - Diesel Engine Co., on the basic proposal were in the amounts of $215p700.00 for engine of 3060 HP and $236,600.00 for engine of 3400 HP. The alternate proposal of the Busch- Sulzer Bros. - Diesel Engine Co. was in the amount of $211,500.00 for engine of 3060 HP and $232,000.00 for engine of 3400 HP. After receiving the said bids and after consideration of the same, the Commission adjourned to 7;30 A. M. of April 30th, 1945• ATTEST; Presiden etary Adjourned Meeting April 30, 1945 All members of the Commission were present; the Superintendent of the Plant was also present, as was Mr. Winter of Buell - Winters Engineers. Motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried, that the pro- posal of the Busch- Sulzer Bros.- Diesel Engine Co. for an engine, generator, and accessories, which proposal was duly submitted and filed on the 28th day of April, 1945 be accepted, all subject to the terms and conditions contained in the -plans and specifications and contracts as prepared by the Buell & Winter Engineering Company, and in the Notice of Contractors on file with the Secretary of the Commission and the Commission hereby exercises its option as to material and equipment as hereinafter specified: 1 11 L7 �J L6* Engine; 3060 BHP, 240 RPM, 9 cylinder, 202" x 271 ", 61.81 #BMEP Generator; Allis Chalmers, 2675 KVA, 2140 KW C? .80 PF arranged for 2300 volt delta or 2300/3980 Volt Y connection, 60 cycles, with temperature detectors in stator. Exciter; Allis Chalmers 30 KW, 1450 RPM, silent chain driven. The price agreed upon shall be $211,500.00 in strict conformity to the requirements of the plans and specifications and for all of the work shown and specified therein, with payments therefor to be made as called for under paragraph 41 of the General Specifications. Motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried that the President and Secretary be and they hereby are authorized and directed to enter into and execute on behalf of the Light & Power Commission of the City of Hutchinson, Minnesota, the necessary contract with the Busch - Sulzer Bros.- Diesel Engine Co. to vL om above work has been awarded all subject to and contingent securing priority ratings from the War Production Board. The Commission took under consideration a proposition submitted by the Schneider Electrical Works of Omaha, Nebr. for furnishing and installation of additional switch gear, switch board instruments and appliances and electrical wiring and conducts necessary in connection with the installation of new generating equipment, which proposition as submitted was in the amount of $9,402.00• Following a discussion with Mr. Winter, the Commission's Engineer, it was moved by R. W. Dahl and seconded by A. J. 'Thompson, that the proposition as submitted by the Schneider Electrical Works, hereby is accepted, subject however, to granting of priority orders, and the President and Secretary of the Commission are authorized to enter into a written contract with said Schneider Electrical Works, all subject to the contingent securing priority ratings from the War Production Board Motion was made, seconded and carried that Bonds of unsuccessful bidders be returned to the proper parties at conclusion of the meeting.
