06-19-2012 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at the Hutchinson Police
Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Verne Meyer, Commissioner Julie Jensen,
Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Chief Daniel Hatten.
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Meyer at 5:30 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Meyer asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by
Commissioner Jensen to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. The motion
carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:

Chairperson Meyer asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the May 22 meeting. Motion
was made by Commissioner Jensen, seconded by Commissioner Hughes, to approve the minutes from
the May meeting with one correction where Commissioner Hughes was identified as Chairperson
Hughes. Motion carried unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Records Specialist Genise Schuette submitted her letter of
resignation effective June 8, 2012. Motion was made by Commissioner Jensen, seconded by
Commissioner Hughes, to accept SchuetteÓs resignation. Motion carried unanimously.
Chief Hatten requested the Commission to authorize the hiring process to backfill the full-time Records
Specialist position vacated by Genise Schuette. Motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded
by Commissioner Jensen. Motion carried unanimously.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that the field training of Officer Tyson Rainey was progressing
without issue or concern at this time.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that the background investigation on Communication Specialist
Candidate Gina Ross was completed but were still waiting on the test results of the medical and
psychological physicals.
Items from the Floor:
Chief Hatten reported to the Commission on the DepartmentÓs Water Carnival activities this past week.
Chief Hatten advised the Commission on the status of the current investigation by the Bureau of Criminal
Investigations of the DRE Program hosted by the Minnesota State Patrol and the involvement the
departmentÓs officers who were participating in the training. Chief Hatten advised there was not any
information released at this time and the BCAÓs investigation is still ongoing. Chief Hatten also advised
that the officers who are part of the investigation remain on active duty without issue.
With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded
by Chairperson Meyer, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
