04-17-2012 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Verne Meyer, Commissioner Marc Jelkin, and Chief Daniel Hatten. Call the Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Meyer at 5:34 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Meyer asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Jelkin to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Meyer. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: th Chairperson Meyer asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the March 6 meeting. Motion was made by Commissioner Jelkin, seconded by Chairperson Meyer, to approve the minutes from the March meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Officer GardnerÓs progress is continuing to be evaluated on a weekly basis, which includes weekly meetings with Sergeant Ament. Updates from Lieutenant Gifferson and Sergeant Ament are that Officer GardnerÓs work performance continues to improve. No action required by the Commission. Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Tyson Rainey had successfully completed the first two interviews with the top score about all the other candidates. Chief Hatten requested authorization to conduct the ChiefÓs interview which is the final process before Tyson Rainey can be ranked on the current eligibility roster. A motion was made by Commissioner Jelkin to allow Tyson Rainey the opportunity to participate in the ChiefÓs Interview, seconded by Chairperson Meyer. The motion carried unanimously. Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Officer Jason Pederson submitted his resignation on April 10, 2012. Officer Pederson resignation was accepted effective immediately. Review of Part-time Communication Specialist Testing: Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Specialists Karen Ober and Mathew Beilke have begun there training process. Items from the Floor: Commissioner Jelkin requested Chief Hatten update the CityÓs web site so all of the Police Commission meeting minutes were available for public viewing. With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Jelkin, seconded by Chairperson Meyer, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
