03-06-2012 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at the Hutchinson Police
Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Verne Meyer, Commissioner Julie Jensen, and Chief
Daniel Hatten.
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Meyer at 5:35 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Meyer asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by
Commissioner Jensen to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Meyer. The motion
carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Meyer asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the February 6th meeting.
Motion was made by Commissioner Jensen, seconded by Chairperson Meyer, to approve the minutes
from the February meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Officer GardnerÓs progress is continuing to be evaluated on a
weekly basis, which includes weekly meetings with Sergeant Ament. Updates from Lieutenant Gifferson
and Sergeant Ament are that Officer GardnerÓs work performance continues to improve. No action
required by the Commission.
Chief Hatten requested approval from the Commission to allow Tyson Rainey to be given the opportunity
to open enroll on the current certified eligibility roster for police officer. Mr. Rainey was not eligible to
participate in the previous testing process. Mr. Rainey has just recently completed all the P.O.S.T. Board
licensing requirements so he is currently eligible to be hired as a licensed police officer in the State of
Minnesota. Mr. Rainey will be required to complete the same hiring process the candidates on the
current certified roster successfully completed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Jensen to allow Tyson Rainey the opportunity to open enroll on the
certified eligibility roster for police officer, seconded by Chairperson Meyer. The motion carried
unanimously.
Review of Part-time Communication Specialist Testing:
Chief Hatten advised the Commission that Karen Ober and Mathew Beilke successfully completed the
background investigation, medical physical, psychological examination, and drug testing.He also
informed the Commission the conditional offers of hire had been rescinded and a formal offer of hire as
part-time Communication Specialist was presented and accepted by the candidates. The official city hire
date was March 4, 2012. No action required by the Commission
Items from the Floor:
With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Jensen, seconded
by Chairperson Meyer, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
Time of adjournment was 6:11 p.m.
Next Meeting to be held on April 17, 2012 at 5:30 pm.
