June 24, 2013
Present: Julie Jensen, Warren Schuft, Don Schroeder, Judy Klawitter, Harriet Sturges,

L The meeting was called to order at 10:09 a.m. by Harriet Sturges, acting chairperson.
IL Secretary's Report: The May minutes were examined. Don made a motion to
approve the minutes and Warren seconded the motion. The motion was approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that we currently have a bank balance of
$10309.81. There has been $300 donated this month to our memorial program
which totals $2700 so far. Card sales had a record month in May with 673 cards sold
which added up to $336.50. $30 worth of dish cloths were also sold. The button
crafts brought in an additional $30. Barb made a motion to accept the report with a
second from Judy. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- The June 18th trip to Clear Lake was sold out and went well. Julie was
encouraged that a longer trip like this sold out and may consider a more such trips
in the future. The tour to Lake Minnetonka on July 30th is full. An August 29th
state fair trip has 23 signed up at this time. The September 12th trip to the
Plymouth Playhouse for another episode of the "Church Basement Ladies" is sold
out with eight on the waitlist. A group will be traveling to Warrens, Wisconsin for
a tour of the cranberry bogs on October 8th. November 12th is the date for a visit
to the Swedish Institute in the Twin Cities which will be decorated for Christmas.
A board member asked if the Center could be opened for tours leaving earlier in
the day.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that June is a pretty quiet month for
programming. "Quartet" was the movie this past month with modest attendance.
July's movie which will be shown on July 17th and 18th at 1pm is "42 ", the story
of Jackie Robinson. A broasted chicken dinner will be served for this month's
fellowship dinner. The July 30th fellowship dinner will feature the Jumbo Burger
from Hutch Cafe. Karen Shaw is leading a yoga program this summer. Dean and
Darlene Dietel took the "Travel at a Glance" group on a tour of Australia and
New Zealand. July will feature "The Earth" series which discusses nature around
the world. "Christmas in July" with Jim Bremer will be coming to the Event
Center on Wednesday, July 24th at 1:30pm. The tickets will be $7.
V. Business
A. Introduction of New Board Member- The board welcomed Bruce Bjerkelund as
our newest board member. He will be filling the remaining term of Carrol
Olson.
B. New Chairperson- Don Schroeder was nominated as the new chairperson for
the Advisory Board. The board unanimously approved.
C. Memorial Donation Thank You- September suggested that we send a "Thank
You" to anyone donating to the memorial plaque program. The board
concurred and previous donors will be contacted.
D. Other- September reported that the ordinance defining the board has been found
and is up to date so no further changes need to be made. The bike rack has been
purchased and is in place. Don brought up the idea of doing a fundraiser on
September 9d' at Jackpot Junction in Morton. We sell tickets at the door and get
a portion of the proceeds. He will investigate further.
VI. Adjournment: Barb made a motion to adjourn at 11:35am with a second from Harriet.
The motion passed.
