L The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Carrol Olson
IL Secretary's Report: The May minutes were examined. Rick made a motion to
approve the minutes and Harriet seconded the motion. The motion was approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that in the last month we had $200 in card sales
along with a $107 equipment reimbursement and a $250 fundraiser reimbursement.
The current bank balance is $8768. Harriet made a motion to accept the report with a
second from Rick. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie reported that the trip to Breezy Point scheduled for tomorrow is sold
out. The August 30th tour to the State Fair currently has 35 people registered. The
September 12th mystery tour is sold out along with the October 9th mystery dinner.
Upcoming tours will include a visit to the Minnesota History Theater with a stop at
Famous Dave's restaurant on November 291h and a December 7th tour to North
Heights Lutheran church for a presentation of "It's a Wonderful Life ".
B. Update on Programs- September reported that July "Travel at a Glance ", which
featured a trip to China, had a good turnout. The attendance has been dropping for
the morning exercise class but the Bone Builders program remains strong. Sixteen
people are signed up for today's session on how to create a Facebook page. The
Fellowship Dinner for August will feature pork rib sandwiches. August is aviation
month and the Civil Air Patrol will be at the Center at 10:3 Own on the 22nd of this
next month. "Red Tails" is the movie presentation for August. A talk on Medicare
will be given from 1:00- 3:OOpm on August 7th while the August dance will be held
on the 15th from 1:00- 4:OOpm. The Senior Center memorial plaques have been
ordered and the frame has been completed.
V. Business
A. Other Business- Julie expressed some concerns about forthcoming plans for the
City of Hutchinson. The Hutchinson Leader carried an article about the City's
priorities in the next few years. While new facilities such as a pool and ballpark
were mentioned, there was no mention of reinstating cuts from the past few
years, including opening the Center on Fridays. Board members were urged to
contact their representatives on the City Council to discuss expanding the
Center's hours to include Fridays.
VI. Adjournment: Warren made a motion to adjourn at 11:OOam with a second from
Harriet. The motion passed.
