sales at the Event Center, with another $576 coming for china dish rentals from this
past year. The dish rental money has not yet been deposited. The current balance is
$8732.69. Harriet made a motion to accept the report with a second from Cliff. The
motion passed.
IV. Old Business
th
A. Tours- Julie reported that the trip on November 10 to the Hubbell House in
Mantorville was full and everything went well. The house was built by one of the
nd
sons of the founding Mayo family. On December 2 a group will travel to Crown
College for a Christmas concert and that is sold out. For fans of the Old Log
th
Theater, January 18 will be the date that our seniors will travel to see ÐEverybody
Loves Opal.Ñ 24 people are currently signed up. Several other activities are already
th
in the works for the coming year. February 16 there will be a tour headed to St.
BenedictÓs, west of St. Cloud, to hear a presentation on ÐLiving the Religious LifeÑ.
They will also be touring some of the facilities. March will probably bring a
flower tour and a trip to the Como Conservatory. Julie has more trips in the works
for April and May along with a boat tour this summer.
th
B. Update on Programs- The Center took a video tour of India on November 14.
The tour was filled with lots of information and various facts about the country.
th
This monthÓs video trip lands in Costa Rica on December 19. There will be no
Monday morning funnies in December. The Karoake night only drew three people
but they will give it a try again in February. The word needs to get out that you
donÓt have to sing to be a part of the event. The November movie ÐThe Warm
SpringsÑ was very good according to those who attended. The Center now owns
the movie. Subscriptions for the monthly newsletter are coming in at a good pace.
th
December 19 the Center will be serving broasted chicken at the monthly
fellowship dinner. The New YearÓs Eve party is scheduled for Dec. 29 at 11:00am.
nd
A movie called ÐWarbirdsÑ will be shown on December 22for those interested in
military aviation. The regular monthly movie for December is ÐThe HelpÑ which
th
will be shown on the 15 at 1pm.
V. Business
A.Potential Changes at the Event Center- Discussions are being held on what can
be done to get more use out of the Event Center. One potential item would be
to move senior dining to the site. This would require some changes and
modifications to the existing kitchen facilities. Renting space to private
businesses was another possibility but it also creates some security and usage
problems.
B. Advisory Board Openings- Melissa at City Center will advertise for positions
on board. Randy Bullert and Phyllis Birkholz are completing their second terms
on the board this year and are not eligible to remain for another term. These
openings will be publicized through the City and the Senior Newsletter in
December. The current board will take a look at potential replacements at their
regular January meeting.
VI. Adjournment: Cliff made a motion to adjourn at 10:55am with a second from Harriet.
The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. - John McRaith, Secretary
