May 23, 2011
Present: Harriet Sturges, Louise Jessen, Cliff Swanson, Rick Reiner, Carrol Olson,

I. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Carrol Olson
II. Secretary’s Report: The April minutes were examined. Louise made a motion to
approve the minutes and Rick seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Randy reported income this past month of $279.50 from card
sales while the last dance netted a $37 loss. The current balance is $6684.32. Cliff
made a motion to accept the report with a second from Harriet. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A.Tours- The last tour headed to the Historical Center to see a presentation on Buddy

Holly. It went off without any issues and was very entertaining. The June 23
Mississippi boat tour is full. The trip to the Kimball winery is still in need of

registrants. Julie has planned an August 11 trip to visit the St. Paul Hotel and tour
its gardens. A State fair trip will follow.
B.Update on Programs- An internet class is scheduled on Thursday. The initial class
is informational and will be followed up by specific classes on topics of interest to
this group specifically. Potential topics are Facebook, twittering, and other social
media. The Fellowship dinner is scheduled for this evening. Thirty seven people
have signed up for this meal which is low compared to past dinners. This month’s
movie “The King’s Speech” went over well. The book clubs are going smoothly.
The Wii bowling is popular but crowded. They now draw to see what order they
play in. The Bike Club has started up again. The knitting club is deciding what to
make next and hats seem to be the popular choice. The next senior dance will be
scheduled in August. June’s movie of the month will be “Dinner for Schmucks”.
Volunteers have stepped forward and the first month of concessions at the pool is
just about covered.
V.Business
A.Grant Money-Videos- September reported that there are grants available for the
purchase of videos visiting countries that we’ve been viewing through our
“Traveling at a Glance” program.
B.Refrigerator- September reported that a refrigerator has been chosen and will be
put into service shortly.
VI. Adjournment: Cliff made a motion to adjourn at 10:42am with a second from Randy.
The motion passed.
