04-26-2010 SAMSenior Advisory Board Minutes April 26, 2010 Present: Harriet Sturges, Phyllis Birkholz, Louise Jessen, Cliff Swanson, Julie Jensen, Rick Reiner, Carrol Olson, Randy Bullert City Staff: September Jacobsen, John McRaith Absent: None I. The meeting was called to order at 10:06 a.m. by Carrol Olson II. SecretaryÓs Report: The March minutes were examined. Phyllis made a motion to approve the minutes and Louise seconded the motion. Motion was approved. III. TreasurerÓs Report: Randy reported a balance of $5115.85. Income included 615 cards sold, tax donations of $155, and a net dance profit of $49. Rick made a motion to accept the report with a second from Cliff. The motion passed. IV. Old Business th A.Tours- The April 6 trip to a flower show at MacyÓs went okay but the restaurant didnÓt turn out as well. ÐHow to talk MinnesotanÑ is the title of the thth show at the Plymouth Playhouse on May 12. As usual, the June 27 mystery tour is sold out. A Green Lake tour is scheduled for July 13th. Julie was nd finally able to obtain tickets for a Twins game for September 22. Prior to nd that a tour will head to the State Fair on September 2. The Senior Center is th also co-hosting a trip on May 16 to the Target Center to see Lindsay Whalen play in her first game with the Minnesota Lynx with Hutchinson Park & Recreation. B. Update on Programs- The Red Hat Bingo event had 65 people in attendance, and the movie ÐBlind SideÑ got good revues from the seniors. Movie times may change to avoid conflicts with other programs. Knitting & quilting is not doing much currently. They enjoy making hats for the soldiers. Next month the Senior Center will promote the Police fishing outing for June. The next dance th will be on May 19 with the Riverside Dutchmen performing. Coming up in May for movies will be the classic ÐCasablancaÑ and the new hit ÐItÓs th ComplicatedÑ. The bike club will meet April 27. The open house originally th scheduled for the same day as the Twins game has been moved to October 20. V. New Business A.Cabinet for cards- There is a need for another card holder with the so many cards available. The board told September to look into making a purchase. B. Pool concessions volunteer signup went well with only a few days to fill. C. Chair Covers Project- September reported that $1600 worth of material has been purchased. The covers will end up costing between $3-4 a piece when finished. September will have the seniors make chair covers for the Event Center. They can be rented for $2 each and will be a great fundraiser. D.Other- The board voted to move the monthly meeting to fourth Monday of the month. Rick made motion and Cliff seconded. The board unanimously agreed. VI. Adjournment: Cliff made a motion to adjourn at 10:35am with a second from Rick. The motion passed.
