I. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Chairman Carrol Olson
II. Secretary’s Report: The October minutes were examined. Louise made a motion to
approve the minutes and Randy seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Randy reported a balance of $5530.38. The November deposit
included a reimbursement from the City for a trip and card sales. Cliff made a motion
to accept the report with a second from Phyllis. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A.Tours- Julie reported that the trip to Little Falls and Camp Ripley was without
incident and enjoyable. This Friday a group will be traveling to North Heights
in Arden Hills for a Christmas pageant. This will be the last tour for 2009. The
new year brings a trip to Olivia in January to enjoy “Potroast on the Prairie” and
visit a restored church. A visit to the Old Log Theater to see “Dixie Swim
Club” is on tap for February. In March we will be heading to the Paramount
Theater in St. Cloud to see the Kingston Trio perform. A trip to a flower show
is being planned for April.
B.Update on Programs- September reported that the November dinner dance was
attended by 52 people. The event was a success but September felt it was a
little confusing to have bingo going on at the same time, as crowd control was
an issue. She thanked Rick Reiner for helping to clean up after the dance and
offered the opinion that we ask the participants to clear their own dishes at
future events. The Red Hat Society had a large gathering last week with 81 in
attendance. The knitting group is busy creating caps for the Head Start
th
program. They hope to have 40 caps made for distribution on December 20.
The card game “Sheepshead” is popular at the Center, especially with the men.
Movie presentations continue to go well with current movies tending to be more
popular. The New Year’s Eve party was very successful last year and will be
st
held again on December 31. The party boasts a noontime “New Year” instead
of the traditional midnight celebration.
V.New Business
A.Quilt- September reported that someone has offered $350 for the quilt that was
up on silent auction. Since the original intention of the quilt was to have it
donated to a worthy cause, Rick made a motion that the proceeds be used to
purchase wool for the knitting projects. Phyllis seconded the motion and it
passed unanimously.
B.Board Members for 2010- Cliff Swanson is the only board member up for a new
term and he has graciously consented to serve another three year term.
VI. Adjournment: Cliff made a motion to adjourn at 11:10am with a second from Rick.
The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, January 25th at 10:00 a.m.
John McRaith, Secretary
