City Staff: John McRaith, September Jacobsen

I. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman Carrol Olson
II. Secretary’s Report: The March minutes were examined. Louise made a motion to
approve the minutes and Harriet seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
III. Treasurer’s Report: Randy reported a balance of $7055. The last deposit was a tax
donation and card sales. The March dance lost $85 due to low attendance and a
higher fee for the band. Rick made a motion to accept the report with a second from
Cliff. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A.Tours- Julie Jensen reported that the arboretum loss was not as great as they
th
had anticipated. On May 12 , Julie will head a group destined for Stillwater
rd
and a tour of historic inns. On June 23 a bus will travel to the Science Museum
to see the “Titanic” exhibition. The Foshay Tower, State Fair, and a Mystery
Tour are in the works for later in 2009.
B.Update on Programs- Dance attendance was down a little. Lack of food may
be an issue. An injury also occurred. Fellowship dinners seem to be
rebounding with better attendance. The movie “Fireproof” was very popular.
Potential for another movie with a similar message “Facing the Giants” may be
down the road. Duplicate bridge is the second Friday of the month. They must
have eight people to play and they are currently just getting barely to that
number. Two book clubs are currently operating with one on Wednesday and
one on Friday. The groups are doing well. Upcoming volunteer luncheon is
being planned. September received a bid of $6.75 a plate for a dinner that will
include a croissant sandwich, potato salad and pie. In June the Center will hold
the annual fishing trip with the police department.
C.Tokens- Giving each person two tokens to ride the bus each week seems to be
working out good so far so the board decided to leave it there for now.
V.New Business
A.Bowling Pin- A bowling pin was donated by Hutch Bowl as a traveling trophy.
A “Thank You” and $10 will be sent. We still have a quilt and attempts to sell
it as a fundraiser have proven fruitless so far. September will contact Lynette
Jensen to discuss where we should go from here.
B.Pool Concessions- September will take signup for pool concessions volunteers
at the volunteer luncheon. We need two people each day during the week to
volunteer. This year, any days not taken will be taken by the PRCE concession
staff instead of recruiting more volunteers.
C.Dance Floor- September reported that someone is interested in renting the dance
floor for an event off site. The board felt that we should be very comfortable
with the group requesting the use and that the group must understand that they
are responsible if the floor comes back damaged.
VI. Adjournment: Cliff made a motion to adjourn at 11:10am with a second from Rick.
The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, May 18th at 10:00 a.m.
John McRaith, Secretary
