12-18-2006 SAM Senior Advisory Board Minutes December 18, 2006 Present: John Lyman, June Lyman, Robert Cogley, Phyllis Birkholz, Liz Tokarczyk, Randy Bullert, Julie Jensen City Staff: September Jacobsen, John McRaith, Kathy Hemmah Absent: None I. The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m. by Chairman John Lyman II. Secretary's Report: The November 20th minutes were examined. June made a motion to approve and Bob seconded the motion. Motion was approved. III. Treasurer's Report: Randy reported a current balance of $9259.28 in the checking account. In addition, the certificate of deposit is currently valued at $10,189.64. November card sales totaled $198 while Christmas Angels had sales of $79.70. Phyllis made a motion to accept the report with a second from Liz. Motion was approved. IV. Old Business A. Tours- Last tour of the year was held last Sunday. September and Julie met with RJ tours. There will be a $350 minimum on all future trips. Three trips are planned for 2007 at this time. A January 23rd "Gangster" tour to St. Paul, an Old Log theater trip on February ih, and a trip to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater to see "Easter Parade" on March 7th. An April 3rd trip to the Macy's Flower Show is being planned along with a few other tours at this time. B. Update on Programs- The holiday party had a sparse showing with 27 people attending but went well. A Texas Hold 'Em card tournament is coming up next month with a Red Hat tea scheduled in February. The Christmas Angels group will begin meeting all year long. The Book Club has 19 members, which is rather large, but they have decided to stay as one large group for the foreseeable future. C. Hometown Realty Sponsorship- September indicated that Hometown Realty may be interesting in helping to sponsor the Senior Newsletter but she hasn't had a chance to contact them yet. D. New Advisory Board Member- Cliff Swanson is being recommended by the board to fill the spot vacated by Liz. The necessary paperwork will be forwarded to City Center. E. Annual Internet and Coffee Fees- The cost for coffee this past year is approximately $400. The internet fees have yet to be determined. V. New Business A. Donation Items- Weare looking to raise funds by having seniors donate items. So far we have received on a couple small items. A Pizzelle Baker was sold this past month and the funds donated to the Center. B. Pool Table- September reported that the pool table is still available for sale. Since there is space available to store it, at this time we would expect an offer of at least $500 in order to sell it. C. Other- Liz noted that Seniors renting the Event Center have an expectation that a Christmas tree will be present during the holiday season. The entire board thanked Liz for her many years of service to the Senior Center. VI. Adjournment: Liz made a motion to adjourn at 11 :07am with a second from Phyllis. The motion passed.
