01-06-2020 PRCEM MINUTES Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board January 6, 2020 Members present were Marsha Anderson, Chad Czmowski, Liz Marcus, Craig Juhnke, and Tiffany Barnard. Also present were Dolf Moon and Jody Harms. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm. A motion was made by Marsha Anderson to approve the minutes from the October 7, 2019, meeting. Chad Czmowski and Craig Juhnke motioned to approve. The board unanimously agreed. OLD BUSINESS A. Field Improvements a. Linden Park upgrades are complete. Two small fields installed on the north end outside the Recreation Center. B. Gateway Park a. The park is complete, with the exception of water and sewer. Possible install this summer with the highway 15 reconstruction ($4,000 for water fountain) C. Recreation Center Roof Project a. Scheduled bid opening is January 16, 2020. $1,000,000 for roof and building wrap to modernize appearance. Construction timeline is May 1-August 15. New Business A. Senior Center Code of Conduct Approval a. A short discussion on the need for a code of conduct document. b. Tiffany Barnard made a motion to present the document to the City Council. Chad nd Czmoswski 2 the motion. The board unanimously agreed. B. Skate Park a. The Skate Park includes commercial grade pieces and non-commercial grade pieces. The League of Cities evaluated the skate park and reported the park is not in good shape. Some pieces are falling apart and need replacing or repairing. There is a $50,000 nest egg for playground equipment. This may be available with matching funds or fund the entire project. Once it is determined what the park needs are, a request will be presented to the city council. C. 2020 Budget a. An additional Parks Maintenance staff has been approved for 2020. D. Campground Project a. Hjerpe Construction installed the water upgrade at the campground last fall. They will be out once the weather permits to clean up. The project came to $29,000. Board Member Items A. Open Skate Pass a. Chad brought up concerns regarding the Open Skate Pass. The cost is $80 for a family season pass. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 6:00 pm.
