Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held their annual meeting on Monday February 5, 2024 at the Hutchinson Police
Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Matt Beilke, Commissioner Liz Cheney and Chief Tom Gifferson.
Commissioner Kim Pearson was absent.
Call the Meeting to Order:
Chairperson Beilke called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Beilke asked if there were any changes to the February 5 agenda. Commissioner Cheney made a
motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Beilke. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Beilke asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the January 2024 meeting. Chairperson
Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cheney to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.
2024 Police Commission Officer Selection:
Commissioner Matt Beilke, Chairperson 2024.
Commissioner Kim Pearson Secretary for 2024.
Commissioner Cheney made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Beilke to re-appoint Chairperson Beilke as
Chairperson. Motion carried unanimously.
Chairperson Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cheney to re-appoint Commissioner Pearson as
Secretary. Motion carried unanimously.
2024 Police Commission Meeting Dates:
It was determined the 2024 meeting dates would be held at the Hutchinson Police Station on the second Tuesday
of the month at 4:45 pm. Commissioner Cheney made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Beilke to authorize the
date, time and location of the monthly Police Commission meetings. Motion carried unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Gifferson provided a briefing of the Police Officer Hiring process.
Chief Gifferson provided an update on Union Negotiations for Patrol.
Items from the Floor:
No update at this time.
Adjourn: Chairperson Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cheney to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 4:53 pm.
