05-17-2022 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were, Chairperson Matt Beilke, Commissioner Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson and Chief Tom Gifferson. Also present was Liz Cheney. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Matt Beilke called the meeting to order at 4:45 pm. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Beilke asked if there were any changes to the May agenda. Commissioner Brandel made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Beilke asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the April 17, 2022 meeting. Commissioner Brandel made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that the current hiring process for police officer was progressing and a conditional offer of part-time employment was given to Eamon McCormick and he had accepted. Chief Gifferson discussed with the Commissioners the importance of officer retention and reported the department was fully staffed with full-time employees. Rules and Regs: City Attorney Marc Sebora swore-in Liz Cheney as Police Commissioner. Union Update: Chief Gifferson advised the Commission that the patrol contract had been ratified and was awaiting Council approval. Adjourn: Commissioner Brandel made a motion, seconded by Commissioner to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:03 pm Next meeting is Tuesday June 21, 2022 at 4:45 pm.
