04-08-2022 POLM (Special Meeting) Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a special meeting on Friday April 8, 2022 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were, Commissioner Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Commissioner Todd Brandel called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Brandel asked if there were any changes to the April 8 agenda. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the March 2022 meeting. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission of the findings of an Internal Affairs Investigation involving a Hutchinson police officer. Chief Gifferson told the commission that a complaint of misconduct was sustained. This resulted is a 1- week suspension with 20 hours stayed provided there are no further violations for two months. Commissioner Brandel made a motion to support the proposed discipline seconded by Commissioner Pearson. Motion carried unanimously. Rules and Regs: Chief Gifferson updated the Commission on the current hiring process. Union Update: Adjourn: Commissioner Brandel made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
