01-18-2022 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday January 18, 2022 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were, Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Matt Beilke, Commissioner Kim Pearson and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Todd Brandel called the meeting to order at 4:45 pm. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Todd Brandel asked if there were any changes to the January agenda. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Beilke. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Todd Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the December 2021 meeting. Commissioner Beilke made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that Part-time Hospital Security Officer Brandon Lietzau would begin field training soon. Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that Part-time Hospital Security Officer Lucas Caturia had begun field training and was progressing as expected. Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that a police officer had been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Rules and Regs: The Commission set February 7, 2022 as the date for their annual organizational meeting. Time: 4:45 pm at the Hutchinson Police Station. Chief Gifferson stated he would provide the commissioners with their respective appointment dates at the February meeting. Union Update: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that negotiations for sergeants and patrol are ongoing. Adjourn: Commissioner Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
