08-17-2021 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday August 17, 2021 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson, and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Todd Brandel called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the agenda, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the July 20, 2021 meeting. Commissioner Pearson made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that Cory Behrendt had been hired to fill Part-Time Hospital Security position. Chief Gifferson provided an update on the progress of Part-Time Police Officer Ben Huebner and his completion of field training. Chief Gifferson informed the Commission the final date of operation for the Hutchinson PSAP would be August 31, 2021. Chief Gifferson also informed the Commission that this move would force a job classification change for the two remaining Communication Specialists to Police Administrative Specialist. Rules and Regulations: Union Update: Items from the Floor: None. Adjourn: Chairperson Brandel made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
