05-18-2021 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday May 18, 2021 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson, Commissioner Matt Beilke, and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Todd Brandel called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Beilke. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the April 20, 2021 meeting. Commissioner Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson provided an update on the Part-Time hospital Security Hiring process. Chief Gifferson provided an update on the progress of Part-Time Police Officer Ben Huebner. Chief Gifferson provided Commissioners with update on Communications Specialist layoff procedure and re- assignments. Chief Gifferson informed Commissioners the HPD will have 16 hours of public window time after September 1, 2021. Rules and Regulations: Chief Gifferson informed Commissioners that two of the remaining three dispatchers had submitted voluntary layoff letters. Union Update: No contract for sergeants, yet. Items from the Floor: None. Adjourn: Commissioner Beilke made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 4:56 pm.
