Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Kim Pearson, Commissioner Matt Beilke, and Chief Tom
Gifferson.
Call the Meeting to Order:
Chairperson Todd Brandel called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Commissioner Beilke made a motion to accept
the agenda with correction of next meeting date to May 18, seconded by Commissioner Kim Pearson. The motion
carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the March 16, 2021 meeting. Commissioner
Beilke made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.
Staffing Issues:

Chief Gifferson provided an update on the Part-Time hospital Security Hiring process. Apps closed on the 19.
Chief Gifferson asked Commission for approval to add Hospital Security Officer Ben Huebner to Police Officer
Eligibility Roster. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to approve placing Ben Huebner on Police Officer Eligibility
roster seconded by Commissioner Beilke. Motion passed unanimously.
Rules and Regulations:
Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that the severance package offers have been delivered to Dispatch
employees. Communication Specialist have until June 1 to notify HR of their intentions.
Union Update:
No contract for sergeants, yet.

Adjourn: Commissioner Beilke made a motion, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 4:56 pm.
