03-20-2019 PBAC CITY OF HUTCHINSON Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 2:00 p.m. City Center Meeting Minutes Members present: Mark Hanneman, Michelle Kiefer, Steve Cook, Dave May Others Present: Candace Hoversten (Hutchinson Health), Brett Nelson (SHIP), Dolf Moon, Sara Witte Absent: Kent Exner (City Engineer), John Olson (Public Works), Sara Turrell, John Hassinger 1. Review of last meetings minutes – Motion to approve December meeting minutes made by Michelle, seconded by Steve. 2. Education/Promotion/Community Wellness a) Bike/Walk to Work/School-  Cancel bike to work May/June event, maybe see about doing a mid/late summer event. This can be talked about at our June meeting.  Walk to School (Park Elem)-Doug Hanneman and three others will start this again in April/May walking the Franklin route.  Bike to School-Michelle will talk with Dan Oberg to see if he thinks there is any interest with students at Park. th b) Bike Rides- Rotary-Luce Line Loops Bike Ride is Sunday June 9 c) Community Events –Passport to Parks-Bike & Blade bonanza/bike rodeo happening at st Rotary Park June 1, this is in group effort with Hutchinson Health, JC’s and Rotary. nd Hutch Tigers Cycling Team-Sat. June 22- Oddfellows Park d) Friends of Luce Line- Plantings to happen in 2019 by E2, will have an April meeting. Parks & Trails council conducted a state trail inventory using a vibration sensor on a bike. This will give the quality and condition of all paved trails throughout MN. e) SHIP-Brett, nothing new to report. f) Walk, Bike, Fun program updates-Steve/Michelle-BikeMN Ambassador Program to th be held Wed. 27 at Rec. Center 2:30-5:30. So far 5 people are signed up. st State wide conference-SRTS meet up- Tuesday May 21 @ Faith Lutheran, Monday th 20 will have another BikeMN Ambassador Training 3. Trail Counts Cameras will be placed at Bluff, Eheim and Oddfellows-May/June. Group will conduct the physical counting at Eheim in July, sign up at June meeting. Any other locations wanting to do counts at, let Sara know. 4. Trail Projects th 2019 projects:Finish Northwood’s trail, 5 Ave. SW to SE corridor, South Grade road project and Maintenance along Century Ave. SW Also in process of developing a bituminous trail operations and maintenance plan 5. Street Crossings/Bike racks Hwy 7 & Montana update-Almost fully funded-HAWK system Police Memorial-bike fix it station- repainted. Sara will look into adding a bike pump at that location. Possible cost share? Also was brought up that a bike station near the Recreation Center might be a good addition in our community. Look into AARP grant? 6. Luce Line Trail MNDOT trail use counter near Arch St.- No update given. Winsted connection- base work on Winsted connection done and paving it will happen this Spring 7. County Trail- Dakota update County workshop to be held soon, next grant needs to be submitted by August Other:  Regarding the BFC recertification: Michelle will ask her coworker, Natalie Gille about the report card and what her suggestions would be for improvement and moving up to Silver status.  Koloni-Bike Share program- Steve will look into st  Auction bikes to have at June 1 Event from Police Dept.- Dolf will ask Hatten  Michelle’s email: The man who invented 30 Days of Biking. #30DOB is coming soon! Committee Goals for 2019 New bike map-publish this spring Community outreach-HCVN-still being aired before City Council meetings-could put these videos on PRCE Facebook & City PRCE page NEXT MEETING: Schedule next Quarterly meeting: June 19th, 2019 2:00 p.m.
