07-21-2020 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday July 21, 2020 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson, Commissioner Matt Beilke and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Brandel called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the July agenda. Commissioner Beilke made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the June 2020 meeting. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Beilke. The motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson gave progress report regarding Communication Specialist Amber Cross. Chief Gifferson gave progress report regarding Communication Specialist Tracey Bergum. Chief Gifferson briefed the Commission regarding IA investigation. Not sustained. Chief Gifferson updated Commission on Police Officer Hiring Process. Union Update: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that the City Council had approved the contract and officers had voted to accept. Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that the sergeants had cast their ballots to decide on representation and they had voted to unionize. No date for negotiations as of yet. Items from the Floor: None Adjourn: Commissioner Beilke made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:05pm.
