01-27-2020 SAM Senior Advisory Board Minutes January 27, 2020 Present: Kay Yoch, Al Barkeim, Connie Dahl, Julie Jensen, Dave Husfeldt, Jeannette Meyer, Rhonda Schwarze, City Staff. September Jacobsen, Jenni Behrendt Absent: Mike Becker, John McRaith L The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chair Kay Yoch. IL Secretary's Report: The December minutes were reviewed and approved on a motion made by Kay and seconded by Rhonda. III. Treasurer's Report: September gave the 2019-year report. Through various fundraising outlets, Sr.programming raised$8,895.97. The largest sums were through concerts, donations and chair cover/china rentals followed by various craft projects. Motion approved. IV. Old Business A. Tours- Julie reported that the Mystic Lake tour was wonderful but had many issues. Julie and September had many issues with payment to Mystic Lake. Julie had been over charged for the buffet meals person). September is still in contact with Mystic Lake trying to resolve the issues. Julie would like the city to grant her a waiver to use the cities credit card for senior tours. The next trip will be to a new playhouse in Mankato showing "I Love You, You're Perfect,Now Change"February 16fn.. A tour is planned to Cold Spring in March,which will include a Branson style show. April 2nd will be a new destination as they visit a Dinner Theater in Bloomington. May 6tn will be a Neil Sedaka trip and June 17fn will be a Saint's game with a picnic lunch in left field. 496 people attended tours in 2019. B. Update on Programs- September reported that the monthly movie "Overcomer"was well received and that"Whitney"was the bonus movie. February will bring "The Fault in Our Stars" as the featured movie and"Woodlawn" as the bonus movie. Another Decko party is being planned for March 17th. Mini Golf is planned for Mach 13tn. Knitting group is going great. Snowshoeing has a strong core group who enjoys the outings. In 2019 the Center dropped Wii Bowling. Programming is being sought to fill this time slot. Texas Hold `Em, count has gone down but they still enjoy having a place to play. Newsletter sales have gone up (hard copy). This year if someone signed up for hard copy they had the option to receive a bonus email copy of the newsletter as well. V. Business A. Board Member Terms- Connie Dahl and Dave Huesfeldt are starting their first term on the Advisory Board. Jeannette has started to serve her second term. B. Spring Concert- May 2nd will be the spring concert, country music band called, "Generations". At the last concert, a survey was handed out to the attendees and country music had a high vote. Ticket prices should be around the $15-$20 range. September is very optimistic about this concert. C. Appreciation Open House- May I Ifn will be the Volunteer Open house. It will be open to the public. Live DJ, dance floor. September mentioned selling hotdogs, chips and soda. It has been brought to September that the Advisory Board should think about having a bake sale at the Open House but will table this until the next meeting. D. Code of Conduct- September spoke about the Code of Conduct that the Senior Center will now have in place. It is only for the Senior Center and no other city facilities. In February's newsletter, hardcopies will have a Code of Conduct included with their newsletter and the email will have it sent as an attachment. There will be a Code of Conduct in every room on a door or cabinet door, and on the bulletin board for everyone to see. Complaints will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis with the exception of a zero tolerance for any physical or sexual abuse. The City would like everyone attending the center to sign and return the Code of Conduct. The board is very skeptical that people will return a signed form. VI. Adjournment: Jeannette made a motion to adjourn at 11:06 am with a second from Rhonda. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on Monday, February 24tn at 10:00am.
