09-17-2019 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday September 17, 2019 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Commissioner Todd Brandel, Commissioner Kim Pearson and Chief Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Chairperson Brandel called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the August agenda. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the August 2019 meeting. Commissioner Pearson made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Chairperson Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Gifferson informed the commission Officers Jose Villareal and Madisen Douvier are both in the evaluation phase of field training and are both expected to be released from field training in one week’s time. Chief Gifferson updated the commission on the status of Officer Greg Nadeau. Chief Gifferson updated the commission on the status of the Hospital Security hiring process. Chief Gifferson updated the commission on the progress of the full-time police officer position. Chief Gifferson asked the Commission to certify the current eligibility roster. Commissioner Brandel made a motion to certify the roster as presented, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously. Chief Gifferson briefed the Commission on the current Hospital Security eligibility roster. Commission Rules Review: Chief Gifferson asked the commission to review the Police Commission Rules and Regulations for any needed amendments. Commissioners will report their findings at the October meeting. Union Update: Chief Gifferson informed the Commission that the City is currently in labor negotiations with Minnesota Public Employees Association. Items from the Floor: None Adjourn: Commissioner Pearson made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brandel to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:23 pm.
