03-20-2018 POLM Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Commissioner Jo Piehl, Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Lieutenant Tom Gifferson. Call the Meeting to Order: Commissioner Curtis Hughes called the meeting to order by at 5:04 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Curtis Hughes asked if there were any changes to the March agenda. Commissioner Piehl made a motion to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Curtis Hughes asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the February 2018 meeting. Commissioner Hughes made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Piehl to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Lieutenant Tom Gifferson informed the Commission that Full-time Officer Eric Peterson and Part-time Officer Candidates are currently in field training and progressing without issue at this time. Lieutenant Tom Gifferson informed the Commission that Part-time Security Officers Jose Villarreal, James Marvin, Ben Hueber have successfully completed field training. Lieutenant Tom Gifferson informed the Commission that Part-time Communication Specialist Breanne Tasche is currently in field training and progressing without issue at this time. Union Update: No update at this time. Items from the Floor: There was a brief discussion about the possibility of additional School Resource Officers in other schools within the school district. Adjourn: Commissioner Piehl made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hughes to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:15 pm.
