01-22-2018 SAMSenior Advisory Board Minutes January 22, 2018 Present: Don Schroeder, Judy Simons, Mike Becker, Julie Jensen, Darlene Kenning, Jeannette Meyer, Curt Dahl City Staff. September Jacobsen, John McRaith Absent: Kay Yoch L The meeting was called to order at 10:03a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder. IL Secretary's Report: There were no December minutes to be examined. III. Treasurer's Report: September went over the financials for 2017 which showed that the Center had raised $5641 from all of its fundraising activities. The Senior board has already deposited $2557 with the City which will go toward the $4000 in activity fees the board agreed to raise each year. The City also needs reimbursement in the amount of $1708 for internet service, coffee, and free fellowship dinners given out during the year. Curt made a motion to approve the treasurer's report with a second from Jeannette. The motion was approved. Then Curt made a motion that the City be paid $3150.80 to cover the remaining activity fees and other expenditures. Jeannette seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. IV. Old Business A. Tours- Julie reported that a Christmas house tour traveled on November 29th to visit the Alexander Ramsey house and the Bachman Idea house. On December 1 lth a group headed to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud to watch a performance of the Texas Tenors . The January tour is to neighboring Glencoe to have brunch at the Brechet Inn and visit McLeod County's only castle. On Tuesday, February 20th, a group will travel to the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington to hear the Legendary Ladies of Country. March 21st will bring a visit to the Old Log Theater for a presentation of Guys and Dolls. Upcoming tours include Kings Singers at Orchestra Hall in April, the Life and Music of Frank Sinatra, the Fagan Fighters Museum in Granite Falls, and a summer boat tour. B. Update on Programs- September reported that the movie for this month is "The Eagle Huntress." The Fellowship Dinner for January will feature pork loin while February's meal will include broasted chicken. Red Hatters and Friends will be holding a Deco party on February 15th. The fee is $5 for this event. Merline Duering will be holding a session on being "Fashion Feisty" on March 5th. There will be a sock knitting class in mid-March. The book clubs and ping-pong players are doing great. V. Business A. New Board Members- Mike Becker and Judy Simons were welcomed to the board this month. They are replacing outgoing members Warren Schuft and Judy Klawitter. B. Mini Golf Fundraiser- A date of Saturday, March loth, has been established for the mini -golf fundraiser. There will be nine holes of golf along with some other games. Concessions will be sold also. The fee for participating was set at $4 for nine holes and $7 for eighteen holes. The board will try to come up with a name for this event and the course. C. Murder for Fun Menu- The board decided to go with one main entree for the upcoming mystery dinner. The group came to the consensus that chicken would be the best choice. D. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Wilma Thunstrom. Don wondered if a blood pressure checkup could be planned for the Center. Having a pharmacist visit the Center to answer questions about medications was also brought up. VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 11:50 am with a second from Jeannette. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held on Monday, February 26th at 10:00am. John McRaith, Secretary
