Thursday, March 16, 2017
Call to order — 7:00 a.m.
President Morrow called the meeting to order. Members present: President Monty
Morrow; Vice President Anthony Hanson; Secretary Mark Girard; Commissioner Robert
Wendorff; Commissioner Don Martinez; Attorney Marc Sebora.
Absent: General Manager Jeremy Carter.
Others present: Randy Blake, John Webster, Dan Lang, and Kim Koski.
The purpose of the special meeting was to approve the purchase of a gas valve
replacement for Unit 1, Requisition 7063.
Randy Blake explained there was a failure to start the Unit 1 gas turbine due to a gas
metering valve being stuck. After removal of the valve, they found several parts were
worn and noted the valve has been in the unit since 1997. When going to order an
overhaul kit, HUC was informed the valve is no longer supported and there are no
available parts.
After discussion, a motion was made by Secretary Girard, seconded by Vice President
Hanson to approve Requisition 7063 for the purchase of a gas valve replacement for
Unit 1. (Requisition attached.)
There being no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Martinez,
seconded by Commissioner Wendorff to adjourn the meeting at 7:08 a.m. Motion was
unanimously carried.

BACKGROUND/EXPLANATION OF AGENDA ITEM:
We recently had a failure to start on our unit 1 gas turbine. After some
troubleshooting we found that the gas metering valve was stuck. We removed the valve
and found several parts that were worn. I contacted the Meggit company to find the
overhaul kit. Their response was this valve is no longer supported and no available parts.
This valve has been in the unit since 1997. 1 received quotes from two valve
manufactures that can fulfill the operational requirements and are accepted by GE. The
Meggitt company quoted their Whittaker valve at a total cost of $47,103 plus tax. The
Case M&I company quoted a Woodward valve at a total cost of $46,343.00 plus tax.
contacted several of our MTUG members and they have installed the Woodward valve
and driver with no reported problems.
