I. The meeting was called to order at 10:00a.m. by Chairman Don Schroeder.
II. Secretary's Report: The July minutes were examined. Harriet made a
motion to approve the minutes and Warren seconded the motion. The motion was
approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Warren reported that card sales amounted to $197 for
July/August while button sales were at $45. Dish cloth sales took in another $15.
Shotgun shell flags added $25 to the total. Judy made a motion to accept the report
with a second from Curt. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie Jensen reported that a tour to Black Bear Lodge in Baxter for dinner
and a show at the Jasper theater was sold out and that they had a very good time.
The annual state fair trip scheduled for September 1st has 22 people registered
and Julie would like to see that number hit 30. The October mystery tour is sold
out. A November tour will head to the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud for a
performance of show tunes and lunch at a local golf course. December 9th will
bring a visit to the Basilica of St. Mary to hear the National Lutheran Choir and
eat at a Japanese restaurant where the food is prepared while you watch. Julie is
still working on a potential tour to see the Vikings stadium in January but is
having a hard time getting answers from their corporate office. In March she has
scheduled a trip to the College of St. Benedict to see the U.S. Navy Concert Band
perform.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that next week's Fellowship Dinner
will feature pork riblets along with create your own sundaes. Next month will
feature meatballs and veggies. The movie for this month was "I Saw the Light"
and next week's travel feature is about the Caspian Sea. Next month "Black and
White" will be showing at the Center with "Great British Castles" as the travel
presentation. The August 10th kayaking event was called off due to bad weather.
The group will meet again on August 24th at the campground boat landing in
Hutchinson. We have gotten some feedback wondering about when the next
concert will be held at the Center.
V. Business
A. Work Experience Addition- Central Minnesota Job Training Services is
providing a custodian at the Event Center as part of their job training program.
B. The Price is Right- The Wii game "The Price is Right" has been purchased.
We just need to try it out to see if it will work for a special event in the
upcoming months.
C. Senior Expo- The Senior Expo will be held at the Center next week. Our Senior
Center will not sponsor a booth at the event but will display some senior
activities and craft items in the foyer.
VI. Adjournment: Warren made a motion to adjourn at 10:46 am with a second from Curt.
The motion passed.
The Senior Advisory Board's next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday,
September 26th at 10:00 a.m.
John McRaith, Secretary
